“Music acts like a magic key, to which the most tightly-closed heart opens.” ― Maria von Trapp
For the past several years I have been providing music for numerous Seattle area elder communities: performing 'hit parade' songs and sharing musical anecdotes, leading sing-alongs, singing for and with residents in memory care, directing senior resident choruses and providing multi-media music appreciation classes. I am the resident chorus director at Pacific Regent in Bellevue and Murano Living in Seattle, where we rehearse and present two performances each year to the delight of enthusiastic audiences (not to mention the singers themselves.) Nothing brings me more joy than connecting with people through music. I love to see people's faces shine as they sing beloved songs, rekindle memories, learn new skills, strengthen cognitive connections, and build new friendships.
"Last night's program was so much fun to sing! This was by far the most professional show we’ve ever done. You bring great style and fun into our lives; I look forward to rehearsals every week. And thank you, too, for encouraging and challenging me to try something new! I don’t know when I’ve had such fun!" - Arlene Alton, Pacific Regent resident
"Eric Lane Barnes is, in my opinion, one of the most talented, creative and generous persons that I have met in all of my 86 years." - Jack Warfield, Pacific Regent resident
"You bring us all so much joy. Thank you. Just ... thank you." - Anna Lou, Áegis West Seattle resident.
"Eric is an exceptional entertainer. You can truly see his compassion when performing for the elderly." - Nancy Lee, Life Enrichment Director, Áegis Gardens of Newcastle
