Come Dance With Me • NEW •
Three pieces for SATB chorus. Mvt 1 (Come Dance With Me) is an a capella, rhythmic piece inviting lesbians and gay men to accept themselves fully in life. Mvt 2 (Lullaby) is a touching lullaby to a newly-adopted baby girl. Mvt 3 (Celebrate) is a multi-layered joyful celebration of unity and diversity.
A capella and piano accompaniment.
Commissioned by The Quire, Marlys Boote, director, May 2001.

Based on the Lakota Sioux legend of the White Buffalo Calf, and the actual birth of a white buffalo calf named Miracle in 1994 in Janesville, WI. Music inspired by Papago Tribal melody. Poignant, funny barbershop song about how barbershops are disappearing.

Three Shakespeare Sonnets • NEW •
Set to three different kinds of pop music styles. Sonnet #147 (My love is as a fever longing still/for that which nurseth the disease) is a 50s doo-wop setting; Sonnet #138 (When my love says that he is made of truth/I do believe him though I know he lies) is set to a gently pulsing beguine; Sonnet #130 (My mistress’ eyes are nothing like the sun/coral is far more red than her lips red) is set to a sprightly 6/8 Irish jig. All three put together are a lot of fun for both singers and audience. Connecting script available, pointing up the fact that William Shakespeare was most likely bisexual.

This seven movement piece concerns the relationship of the Biblical characters Jonathan and David.
Chicago critic Jeff Rossen called Jonathan and David 'richly textured... gripping and soul-stirring'
Lawrence Bommer of the Windy City Times wrote, '... a stunning world premiere. A sensuous cantata rich with supple melodic invention and a lush orchestration... an evocative Old Testament tone poem destined for a full life on the concert stage.'
Scored for men's chorus, three soloists (bass, lyric baritone and tenor) spoken narrator, piano, harp, oboe, cello and percussion.
Three movements are recorded on the CD 'Legacy,' Windy City Gay Chorus.
